Frequently asked

Your questions, answered.

How many treatments will I need?

Most cosmetic tattoo treatments are completed in two sessions: the initial appointment and a perfecting session 4–8 weeks later. The perfecting session refines the shape and fills any areas where pigment didn't hold as well during healing.

How long does it last?

Microblading typically lasts 6–18 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. Nano hairstroke and combination techniques often last longer. Yearly touch-ups are advised to keep your tattoo looking fresh.

Is it painful?

Discomfort is minimal for most clients. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment. Most clients describe the sensation as light scratching. Sensitivity varies between individuals — your consultation is the right time to discuss any concerns.

What are the healing stages?

Healing happens in two steps. In the first five days the brows will appear darker and more defined as the skin heals over the pigment. Around day 5–14 a light layer peels away and the colour softens significantly — this is normal. The true result settles in by week 4–6, which is why the perfecting session is scheduled then.

What is Ombre Brows?

Ombre brows use two different brow colours — one lighter at the front, one deeper at the tail — blended together for a soft, powdered effect. They last longer than microblading and work very well with oily or combination skin types. The result is full and defined but still looks natural.

What is Microblading?

Microblading (also called feather stroke or eyebrow feathering) uses a small handheld tool with several tiny needles to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin in hair-like strokes that mimic your natural brows. The strokes are fine, realistic and placed to follow your natural growth direction.

Is the clinic registered?

Yes. MienBrows is a fully licensed clinic registered with the local Health Council in Camberwell. All equipment is sterile and single-use where applicable. Your safety and hygiene are the first priority of every appointment.

What pigments are used — are they safe?

MienBrows uses high-quality, professionally formulated cosmetic tattoo pigments. All pigments and materials used in clinic are selected for safety, longevity and natural colour results. Your specific pigment choice is discussed and confirmed at the consultation stage.

Things to avoid

What can affect your cosmetic tattoo.

Some factors — before and after your treatment — can reduce retention or compromise your result. Read these before booking.

Sun exposure

UV exposure fades pigment faster. Avoid direct sun on the brow area for at least two weeks after treatment, and always apply SPF when outdoors during the healing period. Ongoing sun exposure between appointments accelerates fading.

Skin-cell regeneration and skin type

Faster skin cell turnover (common in younger clients and those with oily skin) means pigment may fade sooner. Oily skin can blur fine strokes over time — which is why combination and ombre techniques are sometimes recommended for oily skin types.

Colour choice

Very light or very bright pigments may fade or shift in tone more noticeably over time. Nicole will guide you toward the most stable colour choice for your skin tone at your consultation.

Bleeding during the procedure

Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours before your appointment. If you are on blood thinners, please let us know before booking so we can discuss whether and how to proceed safely.

Yearly touch-ups

Medical considerations

Certain medications, skin conditions and medical treatments can affect your suitability for cosmetic tattooing or your healing process. Always disclose any medical circumstances at your consultation. For chemotherapy, cancer recovery or alopecia clients, see our Special Services page.
